So since I finally had my final birthday celebration on Sunday (gawd, it was only a week and a half ago!), I'm going to show you what I got.

I hate that my birthday is so insignificant to anyone outside my immediate family since it's so close to Christmas. I get ripped off every year and it never gets any less depressing. From those closest to me, however, I got more money and gift cards, and a small handful of things:

Apple iPod classic 120 GB Black

I filled my 30GB iPod recently. Yes, FILLED it, and before anyone asks me the same question that everyone else has, NO, I was not willing to delete some to add more. I'm a bit fanatical about music so I decided it was time to replace it with a bigger one. What cracks me up is that this 120GB iPod cost the same as my 30GB iPod from back in the day.

Oh oh oh! And last night, my friend Andrea and I wreaked havoc on Target, got ice cream instead of making cupcakes, and then made appletinis and watched the season 8 premiere of Scrubs.

My favorite cereal, giant-sized!! I'm practically exploding with glee in this photo. And that's one of my sweet winter coats. This particular one was an eBay purchase from Hong Kong. The sunglasses were obviously borrowed from the racks behind me.

I just got back from getting coffee with my friend Kristin (who I worked with for the two week stint I did at H&M) and it was really awesome getting to catch up with her. And very shortly, I'll be seeing my friend Andrea and hopefully we'll be making red velvet cupcakes and playing Katamari Damacy... We're nerds.

In other nerdy news, I've been geeking out and watching Armageddon Week on the History Channel. Last night I watched 7 Signs of the Apocalypse which was so creepy and cool. I'm so stoked about Armageddon week. Fact: I'm really, really into theories about the end of the world. I want to be there for it.

Funny story that inspired this thumbs up: I was driving home form my coffee date, and someone in a car let another guy cross the street. Instead of the obligatory hand wave of thanks, he gave the guy a thumbs up. I was so taken aback and amused that I think I'm going to start doing that instead too!

I guess I'll never be able to escape red and black.

This dress is kind of mod-tastic, but my hair kept hiding the cute little button on the collar. Grr.

I Wish I Could Inspire

Today I got coffee with my friend Mat, which was nice. We caught up on a lot of things. Then I did a little bit of shopping and ran a few small errands.

I bought this skirt in four different colors because it was only $5. The zipper's broken on one, though, and I'm bummed because I don't know how to fix it and it was a final sale. I love the bow top. It's a weird-feeling wool blend, but I kind of like that about it too. H&M had so many tops with bows on them and I want them ALL.

I got those oxfords in August, and it was such a reward to finally discover them. They were so hard to find because I spent weeks looking for the perfect pair and none were quite right until I spotted the most expensive ones, of course. I like these because the heel is thicker, and therefore more practical.

I look like a goon.

New Love: Paperbag Waists

Early (yes, 11am is frightfully early for a practicing hedonist like me), groggy post in anticipation of more celebration. Today my boyfriend and I are going to my mum's house in New Hampshire to finally celebrate my birthday with her (I had a dinner with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and boyfriend the day after my actual birthday). My stepdad is making a dinner of prime rib for all of us. I'm wearing one of my new favorite dresses.

Now, I've heard the paperbag waist is hard to pull off, but I disagree. Either that or I'm not pulling this off so well and someone should tell me!

Jet Black New Year

Yesterday was so awfully, bitterly cold that once I was home from work, I couldn't pull myself out from under a pile of blankets to scrape together an outfit of any sort. I couldn't get rid of a chill all day. I was wearing a woman from work's coat ALL day and was still freezing. Woe.

Today I'm colorful as ever and wearing all old-ish clothes. New year my ass. The Betsey Johnson bag, however, is brand new and I bought it today as a post-Christmas treat for myself... After having weathered a somewhat dismal holiday, I felt I deserved it. Plus I was expecting a terrible paycheck and it was twice as much as what I thought I was getting. Dead serious. So I got myself a little something nice!
